I didn't realize how much I needed this book until I read it.

Lin-Manuel Miranda, the genius behind Hamilton and In the Heights , has a pretty prolific following on Twitter. Each day he provides a tweet of encouragement in the morning and one in the evening. Sometimes they're humorous, sometimes they're inspirational, and sometimes they just hit you right where you need them to.

Gmorning, Gnight! Little Pep Talks for Me & You is a compilation of those tweets of encouragement, accompanied

¡Me gustó mucho!

"What if — instead of compulsively reaching for your phone — you could reach for a book? A kind of comfort object that could keep you company all day long.

I love Gmorning, Gnight!: Little Pep Talks for Me & You. Seriously, I truly love this book. It is a charmming book of wonderfully inspiring pep talks. I feel so good starting and ending my day reading Lin-Manuel Miranda inspiring words, & Jonny Sun's drawings make me smile.

Perfection. Lin-Manuel Miranda is maybe the most phenomenal human being on the planet.

A personal story about how one of Lin's tweets helped me:

The news that Anthony Bourdain had taken his own life came when I was at my own emotional low-point. I was in a job that I had loved and fought for, but was working for a boss who was destroying my soul. Before long, it grew into the single worst depressive episode of my life. I often woke up at 2 in the morning filled with dread, thinking to myself, "I

Let it drive you toward the person you

I got my daughter Lin-Manuel Miranda's book of daily affirmation/pep tweets. I guess that is a thing. They are sweet. I stil don't regret spending her future college money on Tickets to Broadway's Hamilton in July, 2016. I thought that would finally quench my daughter's interest in Hamilton, L-MM, etc., but I neglected to plan for what a craf

Reading this book was like receiving a warm hug from a loved one that you haven’t seen in a very long time. Like coming home and feeling instantly safer. Like looking up at the sky and knowing that no matter what happens, you will be okay.

Gmorning, Gnight!: Little Pep Talks for Me & You is an adorable book of affirmations, that is equal parts inspirational and funny plus the gorgeous illustrations are an added treat to the eyes.

On the whole, this book is really very simple, just a few words accompanying the good morning and good night greetings, but those handful of words are totally spot on! One could open this up at any page and read it and be delighted/inspired/encouraged by them. I think this is a perfect coffee-table bo

Lin-Manuel Miranda is a national treasure. He’s a precious Cinnamon (Linnamon) Roll who needs to be protected always and is one of the only reasons I use Twitter. Basically...I love him. He regularly does good morning and good night tweets. Little snippets of love and encouragement. You can hear his voice in them. They are delightful. This book is a collection of those tweets with illustrations. Perfect. I think it would also make a nice gift. (Hint hint-my copy was from the library. Just saying ...more

This is pretty much exactly what I needed right now. I'd tattoo bits of it on me any day, just to remember that I'm not alone and that life is worth it.

Thank you, Lin-Manuel.

"Good Morning.
Eyes up. Hearts up. Minds Sharp.
Compassion on full blast.

Okay, let’s go."

I’ve always loved seeing Lin’s “g’morning, g’night” tweets, so I was really excited to have a book full of a collection of them. I consider this book a book of poetry, and found it to be a perfect little pick-me-up of encouraging things to read. I think this is a perfect coffee table book that is not only visually appealing and cute to look at, but also is actually something great to read!

Let me set the scene: I'm having what could be classified as "a rough time" meaning that nothing is serious is wrong, everyone is healthy and I have people who love me, but I'm still finding reasons to cry at the gym or in my car. I go to the mailbox on Tuesday because my husband tells me he ordered a surprise for me weeks ago and it's here. Open the mailbox; it's PEP TALKS FROM LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA. I started crying in the street because there is maybe nothing in the world that would have made me ...more

This is just good, encouraging, and hopeful - from Lin’s pep tweets to Jonny’s art. My favorite pep talk is on page 56-57.

I dunno exactly how to tell you this,
you're not perfect.
You never will be.
You keep growing and messing up
and learning,
and today's f**kup becomes a
turning point once you survive it
and see it behind you.
You leave perfect in the DUST,
love, you keep going.

This was exactly the thing I needed last night, and I'm so glad I sprung for both the physical book and the audiobook, because hearing Lin just dish out advice for 45 minutes or so was so, so nice. I had a particularly bad day yesterday

Pep talks. I need them so much right now.

I was familiar with these from Twitter, and I love how they work together almost as diptych poems in some cases. The illustrations by Jonny Sun add a minimal, Shel-Silverstein-esque spirit.

My favorites were on these pages (and I also snapped a few pics with my phone):

I didn’t think I could love these two creators and artists more... but it turns out that the sum is greater than their parts.

Absolutely. Loved.

Thank you to Random House for sending me a free copy in exchange for an honest review. 💕

This isn't a book to read back to front, but I'm putting my review in anyway. :) This is a delightful book, with utterly charming words and drawings. It has a primary spot on my bedstand, and I can't think of a better way to start and end the day.

PSA to the world: Lin reads the audiobook himself! My copy doesn’t come in until later today so I listened to it on audio first but I will take a look through the physical copy tonight and see how Jonny’s illustrations are incorporated!

I also plan to buy this audiobook just so I can have Lin’s pep talks to listen to whenever I need them.
